What is better to use for a website: SEO or Contextual Advertising? And why?

Personal and business websites want to be noticed. But in a world where millions of websites and more sites are being added every day, it can be quite a daunting task for being recognized on the internet. In response to the need to create a means of ranking and visibility, search engines have introduced a variety of ways in which to boost visibility and increase your target audience. Primarily, the options are SEO and Content Advertising. But which option should you choose?

What is SEO, and how does it help your visibility?

The pro for contextual Advertisement is that it quickly drives traffic to your site, usually within 24 hours. It is not the same as media advertisements, as the two are sometimes confused. With media advertisements, it is common to have click fraud. In contextual Advertisement, this is minimized as the ads are only charged when people click to go to your page or to call your business.

The main differences

The main differences between SEO and content Advertisement are that SEO is free and focused on your site's content. Content, in this case, means the material within your site, the domain and web hosting services used for your site, the user engagement for your page, and any linking to your site. Contextual Advertisement is not free. It is pretty expensive. Even if you have an affordable WordPress hosting site and wish to allocate funds to PPC, it is recommended that you do so only for a short duration as the costs can be staggering.

In terms of the effectiveness of SEO vs. contextual Advertisement, the two differ significantly. SEO is intended to build website awareness and validity over time. The more valid your site becomes, the higher you will rank. However, it does take time to build up a reputation, and you may find that the time it takes does not meet your personal or business needs. Contextual Advertisement quickly drives traffic to your site but does not contribute to your SERPs at all. Contextual advertisements focus on the target market and drive the people you wish to visit and engage in your site to your page. The downside to this method is that you stop getting customers visiting your page when you stop paying for the ads.

Which is better, SEO or Context Advertisements?

It depends upon the needs of the site. If you have a website with the best-shared hosting for WordPress or HTML and you do not mind waiting for your page to show up in search engines, then SEO is for you. Also, if you have low-price web hosting and do not wish to accumulate substantial costs, SEO would be the best option. Keep in mind that SEO takes work and time. 

Sites that need immediate results to drive traffic to their site and have the budget to dedicate to advertisements may wish to use content-driven advertisements. PPC ads should be well planned to reach the maximum range of potential clients. When using contextual Advertisement, it is strongly recommended to constantly access your pages' analytics to gauge the ads' effectiveness to your target demographics. When using contextual advertisements, pair it with SEO for the best results.
